Private Lessons * Group Lessons * Dance Parties

Why dance?

Dance is a great way to get exercise, have fun, make new friends, reduce stress, improve confidence, relieve boredom, express creativity, strengthen your relationships, increase flexibility, develop mind-body coordination, and enjoy a lifelong hobby.

What are the different styles of dance you teach?

Popular Social Dances:  Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Hustle, Jitterbug, West Coast Swing.

American Smooth Dances:  Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz.

American Rhythm Dances:  Rumba, Cha Cha, East Coast Swing, Bolero, Mambo.

International Standard Dances:  Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep.

International Latin Dances:  Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble, Jive.

How will I learn?

Most students at Premiere participate in regular private lessons, attend group lessons, and practice at our dance parties at the studio. Private lessons are the most individualized level and focus more on the dances you like, lead/follow, timing and technique.

What if I don’t have a partner?

You do NOT need a partner for private lessons, group lessons, or dance parties. Your instructor will also be your dance partner during private lessons. During group lessons, partners are rotated throughout the class. You will dance with your instructor, other instructors, and fellow students at dance parties.

What should I wear?

We recommend modest, dressy casual attire and comfortable shoes with a smooth or leather sole. We ask that you bring a pair of shoes to change into until you invest in dance shoes so street shoes are not used on the dance floor.

What if I’ve never danced before, have “two left feet” or “no rhythm”?

Most students have not danced before taking private lessons. While it may be easier for those with a dance background to learn, we make every effort to relate dance to something you do know a lot about, such as your job, hobby, or another sport. Most people who are told they have “two left feet” just have not been taught how to move their bodies to music in a way that looks and feels natural. It’s our job to teach you how!

What do Bronze, Silver, & Gold mean?

If you went to a Martial Arts school, you would earn different colors of belts. In the ballroom community, Bronze, Silver and Gold are the standard levels or ranks. Bronze is the beginner or white belt. Most schools split Bronze into several brackets in which you learn different technique and patterns leading into the next level.

How can I practice what I learn?

Group lessons and dance parties are a great way to practice what you learn. We have group lessons Monday through Friday and we host dance parties every Friday so you can practice in a setting similar to that of a wedding or other special event. See our Calendar.

How do I get started?

Premiere offers an Introductory Program to new students. For only $25, you will receive two 25-minute private lessons. These lessons are available during the day as well as in the evening. A partner is not necessary. We teach individuals and couples. The Introductory Program is a great way to get started and see if dance is for you!
